Appeasing Dictators

TruthNews Commentary, November 9, 2009

President Barak Obama is preparing to visit China later this month. The communist government’s preparations for the visit include the execution of nine Uighurs for taking part in July's ethnic unrest in the western city of Urumqi. The Uighurs are Muslims who apparently resent being ruled by Godless communists. The communists have sentenced 21 people in connection with the Urumqi riots. Twelve people have been sentenced to death. Nine of these executions have now been carried out. That leaves three to go. Maybe the communists will execute the other three Muslims as part of the 21-gun salute they use to greet President Obama to their country.

When the Dalai Lama recently visited the United States, President Obama refused to meet with his fellow Nobel peace laureate. Apparently, he doesn’t want to offend his Chinese hosts.

On the campaign trail, Obama accused China of currency manipulation. But the Treasury Department now is only expressing "serious concerns" about the "flexibility" of China's currency, avoiding harsher accusations. China of undervalues its currency to make its exports cheaper so we can buy cheap crap at Wal-Mart. This allows the communists to build up their manufacturing capability at our expense. Meanwhile, all our jobs go overseas until the only jobs left will be working at Wal-Mart selling each other cheap crap made by slave laborers in China. The communists can then use their excess dollars to buy oil, buy friends in Africa, and buy our debt.

Well, Obama’s being soft on communism should come as no surprise. His communications director, Anita Dunn, proclaimed her admiration for China’s late communist dictator Mao Tse-Tung in a talk to high school students in June:

The third lesson and tip actually comes from two of my favorite political philosophers, Mao Tse-Tung and Mother Teresa. Not often coupled with each other, but the two people that I turn to most to basically deliver a simple point, which is: You’re going to make choices....In 1947, when Mao Tse-Tung was being challenged within his own party on his own plan to basically take China over...people said, ‘How can you do this against all of the odds against you?’ And Mao Tse-Tung says, ‘You fight your war and I’ll fight mine....’

Jonathan Fenby, in his book Modern China: The Fall and Rise of a Great Power, 1850 to the Present, described Dunn’s favorite political philosopher this way: "Mao’s responsibility for the extinction of anywhere from 40 to 70 million lives brands him as a mass killer greater than Hitler or Stalin." So Obama’s communications director admires the man who ranks as the greatest mass murderer in history? Even the Chinese don’t admire Mao Tse-Tung anymore.

President Obama meets with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today to try to strong-arm the recalcitrant Israeli leader to make more concessions to the Muslims in the never-ending quest for Mideast peace.

Netanyahu didn’t come to Washington just to be bullied by the President. He’s in town to speak to the annual forum of the Jewish Federations of North America. President Obama was planning to address the forum himself. But the President cancelled his speech so he could attend a memorial service at Fort Hood for the victims of last week's deadly shooting. The shooting was carried out by a U.S. army officer who went berserk and murdered 13 American soldiers while wounding 30. The murderer, Major Nidal Malik Hasan, is a Palestinian whose parents immigrated to the U.S. from a village near Jerusalem. The fact that the major is a Muslim may just be a coincidence; however soldiers who witnessed the shooting reported that Hasan shouted "Allahu Akbar!" [Allah is greater!] before opening fire.

The Obama administration’s discordant foreign policy seems to call for strong-arming Israel to be nice to the Muslims while ignoring the fact that China is busy executing the Muslims. Meanwhile, the administration turns a blind eye to the religious motivation of a U.S. army officer who goes on a shooting rampage in the name of Allah.

Actually, the administration’s foreign policy isn’t discordant at all. It’s called appeasement. Appease those who are strong and want to destroy us while kicking around our friends.

Meanwhile, the Germans are celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall. The Berlin wall, which the communists built to prevent their citizens in East Berlin from fleeing to West Berlin, was torn down on November 9, 1989, two years and five months after President Ronald Reagan stood before the Brandenberg Gate and demanded, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!" Two years after the wall was torn down, the Soviet Union itself collapsed, having been relegated to the dustbin of history.

Jimmy Carter, one of Obama’s fellow Nobel Peace Prize laureates, tried to appease the Soviets. Reagan confronted the Soviets, and they collapsed from their own bureaucratic inefficiency. By the way, Stalin was second behind Mao Tse-Tung in the annals of mass murder, with Hitler coming in a distant third.
