According to Israel Radio on Thursday, Hizbullah and Iranian Revolutionary Guard agents have sent special forces into Venezuela to abduct Jewish businessmen and take them to Lebanon.

The Los Angeles Times reported that a counter-terrorism expert said Iranian-supported agents have enlisted Venezuelan citizens from Caracas to help with the kidnappings. The local accomplices were to monitor Caracas airport traffic and the surrounding area to case Jewish travelers.

Hizbullah has increased its presence in Venezuela after bilateral ties have warmed between Iran and Venezuela. According to the Times report, Venezuela is seen as a hub for Hizbullah to launch terror attacks.

The Shi'ite terror militia has repeatedly threatened to target Israelis and Jewish interests abroad in retaliation for the death of the group's military chief Imad Mugniyeh in a Damascus car bombing last February.
