European Jews press EU to ban IHH as "terrorist" group

The European Jewish Congress has officially requested that the European Union put on its list of outlawed terrorist organizations the Turkish charitable group which sponsored three ships in last week’s Gaza aid flotilla, including the flagship Mavi Marmara with its gang of 50 armed Muslim militants on board.
"Foundation for Human Rights and Freedoms and Humanitarian Relief," or IHH, is "an organization with known and recognized ties to terrorist groups and activities" operating "under the guise of a humanitarian organization," read the request. The EJC stressed IHH’s ties with Hamas, which is already on the EU terror list.
The Turkish government probed the IHH in 1997 and concluded it had traded in arms with Islamic terrorists in Afghanistan, Bosnia, and Chechnya, which led to a raid on IHH offices in Instanbul that turned up a cache of weapons.
The EU has turned down similar requests over recent years to declare Hizbullah in Lebanon a banned terrorist organization.
